Architectural Project of the Stone Quarry Park and São João Island

Volta Redonda is located in the Paraíba River Valley, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Its territory comprises an area of approximately 182km2 and a population of circa 260,000 inhabitants. It is the headquarters of the largest Latin America steel manufacturer, the CSN (Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional). The project comprised the recuperation of two areas previously used for stone quarrying and the requalification of the São João Island, with the proposition of urban public parks encompassing facilities and venues destined for cultural and leisure activities.
