Contributions towards the Urban Development of Serra Municipality
Serra, ES - Brazil
The municipality of Serra, with a population of circa 400,000 inhabitants, occupies an important position in the Metropolitan Region of the Greater Vitória, northeast Brazil. Serra holds extensive and yet preserved environmental assets as well as important built references of the nation’s colonial past. The biggest challenge of this study – that comprised guidelines of urban structuring and strategic projects – was to find ways to integrate these expressive elements in a sustainable way to the daily life of the population and to the development strategies of the municipality.
