Recuperation of the main roads in Luanda

Luanda, Angola

2007

The project developed for Luanda comprises the elaboration of the recuperation guidelines for eleven main roads in the city of Luanda, encompassing the preliminary characterization of the roads, provision of green areas and tree plantation along the roads, and indication of street furniture. Its conception sought to incorporate, in addition to contemporary elements, features of its indigenous culture, such as the patterns present in hand-made fabrics in the design of pavements, street furniture and “Ramblas”, creating new urban references and lively meeting points for Luanda’s people. The revitalization also comprised a public transportation proposal (including some BRT corridors).
