Conceptual Plan for “Orla do Guaíba” Urban Park
Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil

Requested by the City of Porto Alegre, the plan focus on an occupation strategy and a landscape design project that recuperates the physical and visual contact between the city and 7km of Guaíba’s waterfront, bringing forth well designed spaces to be enjoyed by the population. Two main elements define the new Park: the pedestrian mall that runs over the dike that is part of the city’s flood protection system, and a new pedestrian trail, on a higher level. Between the pedestrian mall and the trail, sports, leisure and commercial activities were organized. Between the trail and the Guaíba, as area of a more contemplative character is formed, where the native flora will reconquer its original space.
This Conceptual Plan and Comprehensive drawings, as well as the execution of the first and third strech of the park were coordinated by Fernando Canalli
